Download the Wedding Packet Download the Banquet/Party Packet The Bittersweet Bistro occupies the former Deer Park Tavern, a 100-year-old, gray-brick structure located just off Highway 1 in Aptos. The restaurants owners, the Vinolus family, have completely renovated and redecorated the building from the ground up, and the results are a breathtaking reflection of their pride of ownership. ![]() Bittersweet Bistro is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate, the restaurants crowning glory is the Angel Room. Seven layers of hand-applied paint in shades of gold, ocher, terra cotta and cream make the walls seem kissed by the warm Italian sun. Subtle angel frescoes, copied from frescoes at Pompeii (and painted using the actual pigments found in Pompeii), flutter ethereally on the walls. Opulent swags of black and terra cotta raw silk drape the windows, while hand-carved wooden angels and cherubs perch on the windowsills. Two fireplaces-one stone and the other copper dominate both ends of the room. Two floor-to-ceiling frosted glass partitions are available to divide the room in two for more intimate gatherings. ![]() Bittersweet Bistros chef/owner, Thomas Vinolus, works his culinary magic on receptions, birthday or anniversary parties, corporate events, lots of rehearsal dinners, and Sunday brunches. Hes even come up with an innovative replacement for the traditional wedding cake! His Dessert Fantasy features seven different desserts, presented on custom-made-gold rimmed glass plates, and topped with incredible cookie tuilles. Guests sharing the confections have often commented, These are great fun-much better than a wedding cake! Clearly, if you want a celebration thats deliciously unconventional, this is the place to come.
