Merlot

Merlot is a stellar grape varietal in California. It has been historically used as a blending grape with Cabernet Sauvignon and is especially seen in the Bordeaux region of France, notably Pomerol and Saint Émilion. It has similar characteristics as Cabernet Sauvignon but tends to be softer in style and is usually ready to drink sooner and is often less tannic. Flavors and aromas include plum, raspberry, black cherry, vanilla and baking spices. Its softness and approachability make it easy to drink and pair with all kinds of foods.
